Head of Colour Department (Colour Only)
Daniel is one of the most respected colourists in the UK today. He is our head of colour department within the salon and when he’s not attending to his clients in the Leeds salon, Daniel can be found educating others on all things colour. Daniel won the North Western British Hairdressing Award 2017 alongside our Creative Cutter Ashleigh.
Originally from the outskirts of Liverpool, Daniel’s career surprisingly started at the University of Huddersfield where he undertook a degree in Fashion Design with Marketing, Manufacture and Production. “It was great and I learnt a lot, but this was not the career path for me, it just wasn’t creative enough,” says Daniel.
Having watched some of his friends enter the world of hairdressing, Daniel quickly realised this was most definitely the vocation for him. “I would watch my friends hairdressing and it just resonated with me so much. I knew I could do it and that it would allow me to be completely creative and fulfil my dreams.”
Daniel qualified quickly – after one year of working in a salon and studying his craft he had achieved his NVQ. He spent more than three years perfecting his skills and gaining respect as a colourist. During that time Daniel won the Trend Vision Award in 2012.
Then in 2012, having closely watched the Russell Eaton brand evolve, he moved to the newly opened Leeds salon to fill the role of Technical Director.
The rest, as they say, is history. With an outstanding reputation within the business, Daniel is a renowned educator for Wella and teaches its Master Colour Programme modules. As a regular educator and judge for Wella, Daniel is often called upon to be part of the mentoring teams for their Colour Projects or Trend Vision. When Daniel’s not hairdressing he can be found spending time with his nephews, or exploring his other interior design. He also has a passion for cooking.
A natural performer and stage presenter, it’s not unheard of to see Daniel compering on stage at shows like Professional Hairdresser or for the Fellowship for British Hairdressing.
“What do I love? Having the ability to totally change someone’s hair colour and making a major difference to their appearance. I love my job, I never feel like I am working. This is the most wonderful career. ”
